Hengaw: A young citizen from Oshnavyeh (Shno) who was arrested in Tehran in February last year while serving in the army was sentenced to prison by a military court in Urmia.

According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, Mohammad Seddiq Azizi, a 19-year-old from Oshnavyeh, was sentenced to 30 months in prison by the Branch 1 of the Military Court of Urmia on charges of "collaborating with the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran".

Hengaow was informed that the trial on the charges against Mohammad Seddiq Azizi had been held earlier this week, and the verdict had been officially announced to him on Tuesday, April 19. He was also denied access to a lawyer.

Mohammad Seddiq Azizi was arrested on Wednesday, February 9, 2021, during his compulsory military service by the army intelligence protection forces in the Quchak barracks in Tehran.
 
This citizen from Oshnavyeh was transferred to Urmia after a few days of detention and has been detained and interrogated in Oshnavyeh, Urmia, and IRGC intelligence detention centers for the last two months.

It is worth mentioning that Mohammad Seddiq Azizi spoke to his family several times during his detention through short phone calls and has denied the right to access a lawyer and also family visit.
 
Mohammad Seddiq Azizi is the son of Loghman Azizi, a former Kurdish political prisoner who was forced to leave his hometown last fall under pressure from security forces.
