92 Arrested in July 2024 by Security Forces of Islamic Republic of Iran

According to data compiled by the Statistics and Documents Center of the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, a total of 92 people were arrested by security forces throughout Iran in July 2024. The highest number of arrests was among Kurds, with 49 cases recorded.
Breakdown by nationality and gender:
• Kurds: 49 cases
• Balochs: 12 cases
• Gilak: 12 cases
• Women: 22 cases
These people were either arrested or abducted by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran during July.
Geographical Distribution of Arrests:
- West Azarbaijan (Urmia) province : 32 cases (28 Kurds, 3 Turks, and 1 Baha'i adherent)
- Kurdistan (Sanandaj) province: 21 cases
- Gilan province: 12 cases
- Sistan and Baluchistan province: 11 cases
- Tehran province: 7 cases (5 Persians, 1 Lor, and 1 Kurd)
- Khuzestan province: 3 cases (3 Arabs)
- Razavi Khorasan province: 2 cases (2 Persians)
- Golestan province: 2 cases (1 Persian and 1 Baloch)
- Alborz province: 2 case
Over 80% of those arrested were Kurds, Balochs, and Gilaks
According to Hengaw’s statistics, Kurds accounted for 54% of all arrests in July, with 49 individuals arrested. Additionally, 12 Balochs were arrested, representing 13% of the total arrests, along with 12 Gilaks, also equivalent to 13% of all cases.
Arrest of Religious Minorities In July
Arrests of followers of religious minorities in Iran continued as usual during the month of July. At least three Sunni Kurdish activists and two Baha'i activists were arrested this month. Their names are as follows:
Baha'i Activists:
1. Mozhgan Salmanzadeh from Tehran, who was arrested in Maku city.
2. Nahid Behrouzi, a Baha'i adherent from Fardis County in Karaj city.
Sunni Activists:
1. Suleiman Adhemi from Bukan.
2. Hiva Nouri from Bukan.
Additionally, three Kurdish activists were arrested on January 29 this year. Recently, after being accused of waging war against God (Muharrebeh), the news of their arrest was published in the media.
22 women arrested and child arrests unregistered in July 2024
At least 22 women activists were arrested by security agencies across Iran in the past month. This represents 24% of the total number of detainees for July 2024. Their names are as follows:

- Dlovan Sharifi from Saqqez
- Iran Sharifi from Shushtar
- Marzieh Rigidadres from Golestan
- Zahra Dadres
- Zohra Dadres
- Forough Samiyan
- Azadeh Chavoshian
- Jelveh Javaheri
- Metin Yazdani from Rasht
- Sara Jahani
- Shiva Siahsiah from Lahijan
- Negin Rezaei from Fuman
- Mozhgan Salmanzadeh
- Molud Safaei
- Parveen Muslimi from Tehran
- Farideh Veisi from Paveh
- Yasmin Hashdari from Bandar Anzali
- Nahid Behrouzi from Fardis
- Solmaz Hassanzadeh from Bukan
- Fatemeh Paimard from Piranshahr
No arrests of children were recorded in July.
Arrest of Teachers, Students:
During July 2024, security institutions continued to exert pressure on Teachers, resulting in the arrest of at least one university professor and two teachers.
No student arrests were recorded last month.
The names of the arrested teachers are:
1. Mohsen Burhani from Tehran
2. Ismail Maroufi from Piranshahr
3. Hissam Mehdi from Kamiyaran
Arrest of Writers and Artists
In the same month, at least one Baloch singer and two writers were arrested by the security institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The names of the arrested people are:
1. Asif Thouri, a Baloch singer
2. Mozhgan Salmanzadeh, a female writer and researcher from Tehran
3. Zara Esmaili from Tehran
