115 Kurdish citizens detained during January 2021

Hengaw : At least 115 Kurdish citizens have been detained  by Iranian security forces in the past month on charges of political, civil and ideological activities, with an average of 4 arrests per day, an unprecedented figure in recent years.

According to statistics recorded at the Statistics and Documentation Data Center of Hengaw  Human Rights Organization , during January 2021, at least 115 Kurdish citizens were detained by the Iranian security agencies on charges of political, civil and ideological activity.

According to the report, 102 citizens weredetained on charges of political activity and cooperation with Kurdish political parties, 9 citizens on charges of civil activities and 4 citizens on charges of ideological and religious activities.

Most of the detained citizens were registered in Urmia province with 74 cases , 27 cases In Sinne province, 14 cases and in Kermashan province.

At least 9 women, 4 university students, 2 teachers and 3 media activists were among those detained  in January 2021

Also, 12 detainees were transferred to Urmia, Bukan, Sinne  and Kermashan prisons to serve their sentences.
