Hanieh Maroufi, a doctoral student in political geography from Saqqez, was sentenced to five years of suspended imprisonment and a fine of 8 million tomans by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, Hanieh Maroufi, 35, a student from Saqqez, was recently sentenced to 8 months in prison by branch 1 of the Saqqez Revolutionary Court headed by Keyvan Jahani and 9 months by branch 105 of the Saqqez Criminal Court also headed by the same judge.
Hengaw has been informed that the sentence of the revolutionary court of this student has been changed to a fine of 8 million tomans, and the sentence of 9 months of imprisonment by the criminal court has been changed to 5 years of suspended imprisonment.
According to the document provided to Hengaw, the accusations against this student from Saqqez are "propaganda against the system, disturbance of public peace and order, and publication of falsehoods".
It should be noted that according to the issued verdict, Hanieh Maroufi was sentenced to 2 years of ban from leaving the country, and to write and present an article about "Islamic Revolution and Martyrs of the Islamic Revolution" in the presence of the prosecutor and the head of the court.
Hanieh Maroufi is 35 and a Ph.D. student in political geography at the Central Tehran branch of Azad University.
