Zhina Modares Gorgi, a journalist and women's rights activist from Sanandaj, was abducted for the second time in the past few months by the forces of the Intelligence Department and taken to an unknown location.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, April 10, 2023, Zhina Modares Gorgi, a women's rights activist, was abducted by the forces of the Intelligence Department on the way to her home from her workplace bookstore.
Until the time of this writing, there was no detailed information about the reasons for the arrest and the charges against Zhina Modares Gorgi.
In March 2023, this women's rights activist was charged with "acting against national security through the formation and membership of an illegal group" in the first branch of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court. She was previously accused of "propaganda against the regime."
Zhina Modares Gorgi was arrested on September 21, 2022, by the forces of the Intelligence Department in Sanandaj city. On October 30, 2022, after 40 days of detention in the women's ward of Sanandaj prison, she was temporarily released on a bail of 100 million tomans until the end of the proceedings.
This journalist and women's rights activist has been pressured and threatened many times by government institutions in the past.
