Newroz festivities in Kurdistan: Kurdish civil activists Shno Mohammadi and Ariwan Shakeri arrested in Sanandaj

Shno Mohammadi and Sahab (Ariwan) Shakeri, a Kurdish couple and civil activists from Sanandaj (Sine), have been arrested by security forces of Islamic Republic of Iran in connection with Newroz festivities in Kurdistan.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Sunday, March 23, 2025, 34-year-old Shno Mohammadi and her husband, 35-year-old Ariwan Shakeri, were detained during a raid on their home in the Hajiabad neighborhood of Sanandaj. The arrest was conducted without an arrest warrant.
Informed sources confirmed that the couple’s detention is directly linked to their participation in this year’s Newroz festivities in Kurdistan.
Since their arrest, the couple’s family has made repeated attempts to obtain information about their condition and whereabouts, but security authorities have so far refused to provide any updates or clarification.
