Execution of Kurdish Prisoner Carried Out at Urmia Central Prison

The execution of Afshin Baghshirin, a Kurdish prisoner hailing from Kangavar, has been executed at Urmia Central Prison. Baghshirin was convicted of drug trafficking and received a death sentence.

According to a report obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution of 39-year-old Afshin Baghshirin, originally from Kangavar in Kermanshah province, took place on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Urmia Central Prison.

Sources close to Hengaw indicate that Baghshirin was arrested six years ago on charges of drug trafficking and subsequently sentenced to death by the judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic.
