Complementary Report on the Execution of a Kurdish Prisoner in Iran's Prisons

Following Hengaw’s previous report on the execution of four inmates in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, new details have emerged regarding one of the inmates, Pejman Azizi, a 22-year-old Kurdish individual from Kangavar, Kermanshah Province.
According to a report obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, Pejman Azizi, originally from Kangavar and residing in Vireh Town, Shahriar County, Tehran Province, was executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.
Pejman Azizi was convicted of homicide three years ago at the age of 19 and sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Previously, Hengaw had reported the execution of four inmates, including a woman named Shahnaz, along with Alireza Aghaei, Shahram Sharqi, and Pejman Azizi, all charged with homicide. While government media outlets have reported the execution of three inmates, Pejman Azizi’s execution has not been officially announced.
