Execution of Two Prisoners in Iranian Prisons

The death sentences of Majid Barati and Farzad Garavand, both from Kuhdasht, were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj. These individuals had previously been sentenced to death for drug-related crimes.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Wednesday, May 1, 2024, Majid Barati, aged 34, and Farzad Garavand were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
Seven years ago, the two were arrested for drug-related offenses and subsequently sentenced to death. They were transferred to solitary confinement on Sunday, April 28, 2024.
As of the time of this report, the execution of these individuals had not been officially announced by government media outlets, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary.
