Death Sentence of Kurdish Prisoner Executed in the Prisons of Iran

Ali-Ashraf Khani, a Kurdish prisoner from Sarpol-e Zahab who had been convicted of premeditated murder, was executed at Dizel-Abad Prison in Kermanshah (Kermashan).

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution of Ali-Ashraf Khani, a 45-year-old prisoner from Sarpol-e Zahab, took place in the central prison of Kermanshah (Dizel-Abad Prison) in the early hours of Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

A source close to the prisoner's family, speaking on condition of anonymity due to safety concerns, confirmed that Ali-Ashraf Khani was arrested five years ago on charges of premeditated murder and subsequently sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

As of the time of this report, there has been no official announcement of this execution in government media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary.
