Iranian Judiciary Sentences Matin Hasani, Kurdish Eye Injury Victim, to Prison

Matin Hasani, whose one of the injured during the November 2019 protests, has been sentenced to 31 months in prison by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Matin Hasani, a resident of Bukan, was recently sentenced to 31 months of discretionary imprisonment by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court of this city.

On Thursday, 16 May 2024, Matin Hasani appeared in court to face charges of "inciting or provoking people to fight and kill each other with the intent to disrupt national security" and "propaganda against the government."

He was arrested on Tuesday, 23 January 2024, when security forces raided his family's home in Bokan.

This eye injury victim was eventually released temporarily from Bukan Central Prison on Thursday, 22 February 2024, after posting a bail of one billion tomans until the end of the judicial process.

It is worth mentioning that Matin Hasani sustained an injury to his left eye from gunfire by Iranian security forces during the "bloody uprising" of November 2019.

In December 2019, while he was in Tehran for treatment of his injured eye, he was arrested by agents at a medical center and was released on bail afterward.
