Report on Majid Ajabi, Kurdish Political Prisoner Imprisoned in Saqqez Prison

Majid Ajabi, a resident of Saqqez who was recently sentenced by the Iranian judiciary to six years of imprisonment, was detained 10 days ago to serve his prison sentence and is currently serving his term in the central prison of this city.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, Majid Ajabi, a resident of Saqqez, was arrested after being summoned for the execution of his sentence in this city and was transferred to Saqqez Central Prison to serve his 18-month prison term.
Hengaw has learned that Majid Ajabi was recently sentenced by Branch 1 of the Saqqez Islamic Revolutionary Court to a total of six years of imprisonment on charges such as "acting against national security," "membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan," "propaganda against the regime," and others. However, with the application of the sentence aggregation law, his maximum executable sentence is 18 months of imprisonment.
Majid Ajabi was previously a member of one of the Kurdish opposition parties in the Kurdistan Region and returned to his hometown last year after separating from this party.
