Iranian Security Forces Violently Arrest Ramyar Abubakri and Siavash Soltani, Members of Justice-Seeking Families in Mahabad

Sixteen-year-old Ramyar Abubakri, the brother of Zanyar Abubakri, and Siavash Soltani, the son of Kobra Sheikhe-Saqqa, a victim of the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement in Mahabad, were violently arrested by Iranian security forces and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to a report from the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ramyar Abubakri was arrested at his family home during a raid by Iranian intelligence forces at 3:00 AM on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. At the same time, these forces also arrested Siavash Soltani at his residence.

Hengaw sources indicate that during the arrests, the Iranian security forces physically assaulted several family members, including the parents of the late Zanyar Abubakri.

As of this report, no specific information has been provided regarding the reasons for the arrests, the charges against the two, their current status, or whereabouts. The families' attempts to obtain further information have been unsuccessful.

Zanyar Abubakri, a 21-year-old resident of Mahabad, was fatally shot from behind by Iranian government forces with a Kalashnikov near Simorgh Square in Mahabad on Thursday, October 27, 2022.

On the same day, Kobra Sheikhe-Saqqa, a 52-year-old woman from Mahabad, was killed on Molajami Street by a direct shot from Iranian government forces, with a live bullet striking her throat.
