Death Sentence of a Prisoner Carried Out in Qezel Hesar Prison

The death sentence of a Kurdish prisoner identified as Sajad Bandegi, a resident of Harsin in Kermanshah province, was carried out just hours after he was transferred to solitary confinement in Qezel Hesar Prison, Karaj.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, the death sentence of Sajad Bandegi, 37, from Harsin, was carried out in Qezel Hesar Prison, Karaj. Hengaw has learned that the death sentence was carried out hours after he was moved to solitary confinement. Earlier today, Hengaw had reported on his transfer to solitary.

Sajad Bandegi had been arrested 10 years ago on charges related to drug offenses and was sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary. As of the time of this report, the execution has not been announced in state media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary.
