Iran Summons and Arrests Writer and Social Activist Arash Ramezani in Mashhad

Arash Ramezani, a writer and social activist, was arrested by state security forces after being summoned to the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Mashhad. His current whereabouts remain unknown.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, 35-year-old Arash Ramezani, a writer and social activist from Mashhad, was detained by security forces after reporting to the Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office, following a summons. He was then transferred to an undisclosed location.

Fatemeh Nourani, Ramezani’s wife, shared that she accompanied her husband to the Prosecutor’s Office after they received the summons. While they were inquiring about the reason for the arrest and setting bail, a security agency intervened, arresting Ramezani and transferring him to an unknown location.

Nourani also revealed that after 24 hours, her husband briefly contacted his family by phone but mentioned that he was unaware of the reasons for his detention.
