Writer and filmmaker Hamid Pishghadam arrested in Tehran, whereabouts remain unknown

Hamid Pishghadam, a writer, director, and cinematographer residing in Shahriar—a district in Tehran Province—has been arrested by security forces and transferred to an undisclosed location. Eleven days after his arrest, there is still no information regarding his fate or whereabouts.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, 59-year-old Hamid Pishghadam was arrested by agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s security forces in his private garden in Shahriar.
Prior to his detention, Pishghadam had been summoned by the IRGC Intelligence Unit. “Collaboration with Israel” has been cited as a possible reason for his arrest.
No official information has been released regarding the charges against him, his place of detention, or his current condition.
