Death sentence of prisoner carried out in Birjand Central Prison

The death sentence of an imprisoned Baloch individual, identified as Esmail Shahbakhsh, who was previously sentenced to death for drug-related charges, was carried out in Birjand Central Prison,  South Khorasan province. 

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Esmail Shahbakhsh, a 47-year-old father of 12 children from the city of Zahedan in Sistan and Baluchestan, was executed in Birjand Central Prison at dawn on Saturday, October 27, 2024.

As reported by Haalvsh news outlet, this prisoner had been arrested for three years on drug-related charges and was ultimately sentenced to death.

To date, the news of the execution of this prisoner has not been published in state media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary.
