Report on the Execution of at Least 9 Prisoners in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj

At least 9 prisoners, including two Afghan nationals and one woman, have been executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj, on Wednesday. The executions included two prisoners convicted of drug-related charges, three for premeditated murder, two for rape, and two for “moharebeh” (enmity against God) through armed robbery.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Human Organization for Rights, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, the death sentences of two prisoners, Ali Mamashlou and Morteza Abdolhosseinpour, were carried out for “moharebeh through armed robbery.” Additionally, Fazlollah Pournasiri from Kuhdasht and Hamzeh Shahbazi from Tehran were executed for drug-related charges.
The death sentences of Behnam Hossein Dastjerdi, a married man and father of one, Moloud Khaledian from Qorveh, and an unidentified woman were carried out for “premeditated murder.”
The executed woman had been arrested eight years ago for the murder of her husband, another male prisoner was convicted two years ago for the murder of his friend, and Moloud Khaledian had been arrested four years ago in Tehran on similar charges and sentenced to death by the Iranian Judiciary.
Additionally, two Afghan nationals who had been arrested five years ago, along with five others, in Tehran for “rape” were also executed.
