Iranian Judiciary Sentenced Susan Hassan-Zadeh, Kurdish Language Instructor, to Prison

Susan Hassan-Zadeh, a civil rights activist and volunteer Kurdish language instructor who was detained for one month this spring, has been sentenced to imprisonment by the judiciary of Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in recent days, Susan Hassan-Zadeh, a civil rights activist and volunteer Kurdish language instructor in the city of Bukan, was sentenced to three months of imprisonment by Branch 101 of Bukan’s Criminal Court on charges of “propaganda against the state.”
Susan Hassan-Zadeh was arrested on May 15, 2024, when intelligence forces violently raided her home without presenting a search warrant. She was ultimately released from Urmia Central Prison on June 12, 2024, after posting an 800-million-toman bail, pending the completion of her trial.
Hengaw had previously reported that during her detention, Susan Hassan-Zadeh was denied access to a lawyer and had only one brief phone call with her family.
