Four prisoners, including two Afghan nationals executed, in Karaj, Iran

The death penalty was carried out for four prisoners, including two Afghan nationals, Abdulbari Tajik and Pasha Pashto, as well as two other prisoners identified as Javid Ahmadkhani and Rahman (last name unknown), in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj. These individuals had been sentenced to death for drug-related offenses.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Wednesday, October 16, 2024, the executions of Abdulbari Tajik and Pasha Pashto, both Afghan nationals, along with Javid Ahmadkhani from Islamshahr, Tehran, and a prisoner named Rahman, were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
Informed sources reported that Javid Ahmadkhani had been arrested five years ago on drug-related charges and was subsequently sentenced to death.
The other three prisoners were also convicted of drug-related offenses in separate cases and had been sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
As of the time of this report, the executions had not been reported by state media or judicial-affiliated news outlets.
