Prisoner executed in Mahabad Central Prison

The death sentence of Shahin Mahdavi, who had been transferred to solitary confinement two days earlier, was carried out in Mahabad Central Prison. He had previously been sentenced to death on charges of “rape.”

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Thursday, February 20, 2025, the death sentence of Shahin Mahdavi, 29, was carried out in Mahabad Central Prison.

This prisoner was arrested two years ago on charges of “rape” of an 11-year-old girl and was sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Notably, the child later took her own life due to the psychological trauma caused by the assault.

To date, the news of this execution has not been announced by state media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary.
