Two prisoners executed in Rasht Central Prison

The death sentences Faramarz Keyfari, a Kurdish prisoner, and Kourosh Zare, previously convicted on drug-related charges by the judiciary, have been carried out in Lakan Prison in Rasht.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Sunday, March 16, 2025, Kourosh Zare, 36, and a father of two, was executed at Lakan Prison.

Sources familiar with the case stated that Zare had been arrested three years ago on drug-related charges and was subsequently sentenced to death.

Earlier, at dawn on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, the execution of Faramarz Keyfari, a Kurdish prisoner from Kangavar, was also carried out at the same prison. Keyfari had likewise been arrested and sentenced to death on charges related to narcotics.

As of the time of this report, the executions of these two prisoners have not been announced by state media, including outlets affiliated with Iran’s judiciary.
