Hengaw: Wednesday, April 2, 2025
Mansour Mardani and Mahmoud Mardani, two Christian convert brothers, have been sentenced by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s judiciary to a combined total of eight years in prison, along with financial penalties and other supplementary punishments.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mahmoud Mardani (44) and Mansour Mardani (46) were each sentenced to four years in prison by the Revolutionary Court of Lenjan County, presided over by Judge Mohammad Ali Abbasi. The charges were based on “effective propaganda against the government through promotion of Christianity.”
In addition to imprisonment, each brother has been ordered to pay a fine of 150 million tomans and has been sentenced to five years of deprivation of social rights.
They have also been banned from residing in Isfahan Province and sentenced to two years of exile in Ardal County, located in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province.
Their trial took place in January 2025, and the verdict was recently communicated to them. They had previously been released on one billion toman bail each after a preliminary hearing in November 2024.
Mansour and Mahmoud Mardani were originally arrested on December 22, 2021, by IRGC Intelligence forces during a Christmas gathering in Fooladshahr, Isfahan Province. They were later released on bail.
