Mohsen Langar-Neshin, a political prisoner sentenced to death, who has spent nearly 22 months in detention, has been transferred to solitary confinement at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, raising serious concerns over the imminent risk of his execution.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Langar-Neshin was recently moved to solitary confinement in preparation for the implementation of his death sentence. He was previously convicted of “espionage” by the Iranian judiciary. Further details regarding the issuing court and the presiding judge remain undisclosed.

Prison officials have not provided any explanation for his transfer, intensifying fears for his safety. Langar-Neshin had been transferred from Ward 4 of Evin Prison to Ghezel Hesar Prison on February 16, 2025.

Over the past 665 days, he has been held in various sections of Evin and Ghezel Hesar prisons, initially in Ward 209 of Evin Prison—controlled by the Ministry of Intelligence.

During his detention, Langar-Neshin was subjected to severe physical and psychological torture aimed at extracting forced confessions. Hengaw has obtained a 22-minute audio recording in which he recounts in detail the torture and abuse he endured.

As part of the same coerced case, he was also threatened with the arrest, harassment, and mistreatment of his family members, linked to accusations of involvement in the pursuit and killing of a senior IRGC officer.

Langar-Neshin was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents in Tehran on July 3, 2023, and spent 43 days under intense torture before being transferred to Evin Prison.

The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights warns that Langar-Neshin’s life is in imminent danger and that the risk of his execution remains extremely high. Hengaw urgently calls on international organizations and human rights defenders to intervene immediately to prevent the execution and save his life.
