Public execution of 23-year-old Sajjad Piri carried out in Delfan

Hengaw – Tuesday, May 27, 2025
Sajjad Piri, a 23-year-old prisoner previously convicted of "armed robbery resulting in murder (moharebeh)”, was executed publicly in the city of Delfan, Lorestan province.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution was carried out on the morning of Tuesday, May 27, 2025, following four years of imprisonment.
Informed sources told Hengaw that Piri had been arrested and later sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary on charges related to an “armed robbery that allegedly resulted in the death of another person.”
Although state-run media reported the execution, they did not disclose the identity of the person executed.
For decades, the Islamic Republic of Iran has employed public executions as a tool of intimidation, using them to enforce control and suppress dissent.
