Hengaw – Wednesday, May 28, 2025
The Urmia Revolutionary court has sentenced Bahram Majdifard, a Kurdish man from Margavar District in Urmia, to a total of ten years in prison on political charges.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 6 of the Urmia Revolutionary Court—presided over by Judge Najafzadeh—convicted Majdifard, a resident of Rajan village, of two separate charges. He received 3 years and 4 months for “propaganda against the state” and 6 years and 8 months for “membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.”
Of the total sentence, the court has suspended the 6-year and 8-month term for a period of three years.
A source familiar with the case reported that Majdifard was subjected to intense pressure and severe torture during his detention by security forces, aimed at coercing a forced confession.
