Surge in executions: Five hanged at Ghezel Hesar Prison in a single day

Five prisoners have been executed at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj in a single day. Among those executed were two men, Hamed Hasani and Hatem Saeedi, who had been sentenced to death on drug-related charges. Their executions brought the day’s total to five, following the earlier confirmed hangings of three Kurdish prisoners: Masoud Naseri, Sajjad Moradi Motlagh, and Ardeshir Soltanabadi.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the executions were carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, June 11, 2025. The five prisoners who were executed were Masoud Naseri, 38, from Kermanshah (Kermashan); Sajjad Moradi Motlagh, 32, from Harsin; Ardeshir Soltanabadi, 43, from Kangavar in Kermanshah Province; Hamed Hasani, 36, from Mohammadshahr, Karaj; and Hatem Saeedi, 46, from Qom.
All five had been convicted by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran on charges related to drug offenses. According to informed sources, Naseri and Soltanabadi had been imprisoned for five years, Moradi Motlagh and Hasani for four years, and Saeedi for three years prior to their executions.
None of the executions had been reported by state-affiliated media, including outlets connected to the judiciary.
