Mehsa Akbari executed in Shiraz Central Prison one day after her husband’s public execution

The death sentence of a female prisoner, Mehsa Akbari, who had previously been sentenced to death along with her husband, Sajad Molaei Hakani, on charges of premeditated murder, was carried out in Shiraz Central Prison. Hengaw reported yesterday on the public execution of Molaei Hakani in Larestan.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution of Mehsa Akbari, a defendant from Beyram, Larestan County in Fars Province, was carried out at dawn on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.
Local media reported that Akbari was the second defendant in the Beyram Larestan case, in which she and her husband were accused of murdering a mother and her three children with the “intent to commit robbery.” She was convicted and sentenced to death on these charges.
The reports added that following the four murders, the defendants attempted to abduct the family’s fourth child but were arrested during the course of the crime.
The death sentence of Sajad Molaei Hakani, the husband of Mehsa Akbari and the other defendant in this case, was carried out publicly yesterday in Larestan.
