Two prisoners, including a woman, executed in Yasuj over murder convictions

Iranian authorities executed at least two prisoners, including a woman, at Yasuj Central Prison. The prisoners, Mahtab Shirmohammadi, 32, and Sirus Sayadi, 40, had been sentenced to death in separate cases on charges of "premeditated murder."

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the executions were carried out at dawn on Sunday, August 2, 2026. Shirmohammadi, a Turkish woman from Tabriz, and Sayadi, a Lor man from Yasuj, had each been sentenced to qisas (retribution in kind) by the Iranian judiciary.

Mahtab Shirmohammadi, 32, was the mother of one daughter. Around three years ago, during a family dispute and heated argument at her mother's home in Yasuj, she fatally stabbed her husband. She was subsequently sentenced to qisas.

Sirus Sayadi, 40, was from Yasuj and the father of one child. Around five years ago, he was arrested for fatally shooting a man with a hunting rifle during a large family altercation and was later sentenced to qisas. 

Iranian state media and judiciary-affiliated outlets had not announced the executions.
