Six prisoners, including three Kurds, executed in Karaj Central Prison

Hengaw – Sunday, August 3, 2025
The death sentences of three Kurdish prisoners – Mohammad Golousi, Fariborz Haghi, and Ali Hosseinpour – along with three other prisoners – Reza Bakhtavar, Meysam Joudaki, and Sajad Pourdanesh – have been carried out in Karaj Central Prison. All six had previously been convicted on drug-related charges.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Sunday, August 3, 2025, Golousi, from Kermanshah (Kermashan); Haghi, from Nourabad; Hosseinpour, from Kuhdasht; Bakhtavar and Joudaki, both from Karaj; and Pourdanesh, from Tehran, were executed in Karaj Central Prison.
The six prisoners had been arrested on charges related to narcotics and later sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Hengaw had issued a report last week warning that these prisoners were at imminent risk of execution.
State media, including outlets affiliated with the judiciary, have not announced the executions.
