Executions of Omid Rahmani and Kamyar Najafzadeh carried out in Kermanshah central prison

Iranian authorities have carried out the executions of two Kurdish prisoners from Kermanshah (Kermashan), Omid Rahmani and Kamyar Najafzadeh, who had been sentenced to death on drug-related charges. The executions took place in the city’s central facility, Dizel-Abad prison.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Rahmani, 37, and Najafzadeh were executed at dawn on Monday, September 8, 2025, in Kermanshah central prison. Both men were residents of Kermanshah.

Sources reported that Rahmani had been in custody for three years and Najafzadeh for four years on drug-related charges before being sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The executions had not been announced by state media, particularly outlets close to the judiciary.

According to statistics compiled by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights’ Statistics and Documentation Center, at least 152 prisoners were executed in Iranian prisons during August 2025. Twenty-four of them, approximately 16 percent, were Kurdish prisoners.
