Hengaw – Sunday, September 14, 2025

In the lead-up to the third anniversary of the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement, Sanandaj’s Intelligence Office carried out coordinated phone calls targeting several women activists. Some were also summoned.

According to reports received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, these calls in recent days aimed to increase pressure on women activists in Sanandaj (Sine), restrict their civic activities, and discourage them from continuing social and civic engagement.

A source familiar with the situation said the calls were threatening and intended to create fear and psychological pressure. Over the past few days, several activists in Sanandaj were also summoned, interrogated, and threatened by the same security body.

These actions come as security forces tighten control across Kurdish cities to prevent gatherings and other civic activities marking the anniversary of Woman, Life, Freedom.
