Iranian forces detain Kurdish artist couple in Paveh, whereabouts unknown

Iranian security forces detained Kurdish artist Rashid Emami and his wife, Shler Modirzadeh, in the city of Paveh. Their whereabouts remain unknown.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Emami, a 33-year-old surveying engineer and artist from Paveh, was detained on Monday, July 6, 2026, when Intelligence Department forces raided the couple’s home.
Hengaw sources said intelligence forces returned to the home several hours later and detained Modirzadeh.
The couple were detained with force and without authorities presenting a warrant. Efforts by their family and relatives to obtain information about their whereabouts and condition have so far been unsuccessful.
Emami was previously detained during the Woman, Life, Freedom protests on Novembre 26, 2022, along with his younger brother, Mohammad Emami.
The reasons for the couple’s detention, any charges against them and their place of detention were not known at the time of reporting.
