Hengaw – Tuesday, September 16, 2025

Daye Nehiya Rahimi, the 71-year-old mother of Ramin Fatahi, who has been campaigning for accountability over her son’s death, was detained and interrogated by security forces in Sanandaj on the eve of the anniversary of the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Rahimi was summoned on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, which coincided with the anniversary of the state killing of Jina Amini, and questioned for several hours at the Sanandaj Intelligence Department.

During the interrogation, security agents reportedly threatened the family, ordering them to abandon their efforts to seek justice and to avoid attending any events commemorating victims of the Woman, Life, Freedom movement.

Rada Fatahi, sister of the late Ramin Fatahi, said their elderly mother suffered severe psychological distress as a result of the detention and questioning.

Ramin Fatahi, 47, a resident of Sanandaj, died under torture at the city’s Intelligence Department only nine days after his arrest. He was abducted on October 13, 2022, along with his sister Rada and brother Wria Fatahi, during the Woman, Life, Freedom movement.
