Hengaw – Sunday, October 19, 2025

The Iranian authorities have secretly executed a prisoner at Qom Central Prison who had been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of “spying for Israel.” The identity of the executed individual has not yet been disclosed.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution took place at dawn on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Qom Prison. Mizan News Agency, the judiciary’s official outlet, reported that the prisoner had been arrested in February 2024 on charges of espionage for Israel and subsequently sentenced to death.

While refraining from revealing the prisoner’s name, Mizan claimed that he had established contact with Israeli intelligence “for personal and professional reasons.”

The agency further referred to the prisoner’s alleged “confession” and “admission of collaboration and information transfer” as evidence. These claims, given the Islamic Republic’s documented record of torture and forced confessions, raise serious human rights concerns.
