Kurdish activist Mohammad Rezaei sentenced to one year in prison

Iranian authorities have sentenced Kurdish activist Mohammad Rezaei to one year in prison in the city of Dehgolan (Dewlan). Rezaei is a member of the civil society organisation “Nozhin” and has been active in cultural and educational initiatives promoting the Kurdish language.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the Revolutionary Court in Dehgolan convicted Rezaei on the charge of “propaganda against the state”. The verdict was delivered to him on Wednesday, November 6, 2025, following a recent initial hearing.
Sources noted that the charge relates to his civil and cultural activities carried out within the “Nozhin” organisation, which works to promote Kurdish language and culture.
Rezaei was previously arrested on July 12, 2025, by Iranian security forces. He was held for 55 days at the Intelligence Detention Centre in Sanandaj (Sine) before being temporarily released on bail of 800 million tomans.
