Hengaw – Saturday, November 8, 2025
With the identification of another Kurdish prisoner, Hawre Jahanara, the number of prisoners executed in Urmia Central Prison has risen to two. Earlier, Hengaw confirmed the execution of Shahab (Shams al-Din) Abbasi in the same prison.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Jahanara’s execution took place at dawn on Friday, November 7, 2025.
Jahanara, a Kurdish man from Sardasht and the father of one child, had been arrested two years ago on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s judiciary.
Hengaw had previously reported the execution of another Kurdish prisoner, Shahab Abbasi, aged 52, father of two, and a resident of Kai village in the Silvaneh district of Urmia, whose sentence was carried out on the same day in the same prison. Abbasi had also been arrested around two years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death.
None of these executions have been reported by Iranian state media or judiciary-affiliated outlets.
