Hengaw — Tuesday, November 11, 2025

Authorities in the Islamic Republic of Iran carried out the public execution of Mahmoud Ansari, a prisoner convicted of “premeditated murder,” in the city of Yasuj, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, security forces executed Ansari at dawn in Yasuj’s Haft Tir Square. He had shot and killed a cardiologist named Masoud Davoudi outside his home on November 11, 2024, and was arrested later that same day. Ansari reportedly told investigators that the killing was driven by a dispute related to his brother’s medical treatment.

Branch 1 of the Yasuj Criminal Court sentenced Ansari to public execution in March 2025 on charges of “premeditated murder.” The Supreme Court upheld the death sentence in September 2025.

State-controlled media confirmed the public execution in Yasuj but withheld Ansari’s identity, only reporting that the prisoner had been sentenced to death for the “premeditated murder” of a specialist doctor.
