Iranian court sentences Kurdish political prisoner Ramin Zileh to death
Hengaw — Thursday, December 11, 2025
An Iranian court has sentenced Kurdish political prisoner Ramin Zileh from Naqadeh to death after more than 500 days in detention.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Zileh was sentenced to death by Branch 1 of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Siyami, on the charge of “baghi (armed rebellion) through membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan."
Sources told Hengaw that the death sentence was formally issued to Zileh inside Naqadeh Central Prison on December 5, 2025.
Zileh’s trial was conducted after 1 year, 4 months, and 19 days in detention. The hearing lasted only a few minutes and was held without transparency and without allowing him access to a lawyer of his choosing — conditions that constitute a violation of international fair trial standards.
Zileh was arrested on Monday, July 22, 2024, by Intelligence Ministry agents in Naqadeh and later transferred to Naqadeh Central Prison, where he has remained for the past 507 days.
