Iranian authorities have executed two Kurdish prisoners, Qobad Fathollahi and Keyumars Qobadi, at Ilam Central Prison. Both men had previously been sentenced to death on charges of “murder” by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s judiciary.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the executions were implemented at dawn inside Ilam Central Prison. The two prisoners, Fathollahi, from Ilam, and Qobadi, a 37-year-old from Helilan, a district in Ilam province, were executed on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
Hengaw has learned that both men were convicted in separate cases. Qobadi had been detained for approximately nine years before his execution and was transferred to solitary confinement on Monday, December 15, in preparation for the implementation of his sentence.
Iranian state media, particularly outlets affiliated with the judiciary, have not announced or acknowledged the executions.
