Six Kurds arrested in Sardasht, Sanandaj, Dehgolan, and Mahabad

Six Kurdish individuals have been arrested by Iranian government forces in the cities of Sardasht, Sanandaj, Dehgolan, and Mahabad.

The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights has learned that those detained include Hossein Niksarshat and his son Sina Niksarshat from Mahabad; Shahrzad Rezaei and Foad Enayati, civil activists from Sanandaj; Osman Mazin, a lawyer from Sardasht; and Khabat Amiri, a civil activist and former political prisoner from Dehgolan.

Government forces arrested Hossein Niksarshat, 55, and his son Sina Niksarshat, 24, on the evening of Saturday, January 17, 2026. They are residents of the village of Torshekan, near Mahabad.

Earlier, on Thursday, January 15, Foad Enayati, a civil activist, was arrested by government forces in Sanandaj.

In recent days, Shahrzad Rezaei, a women’s rights activist; Khabat Amiri, 40, a father of one; and Osman Mazin, a lawyer who has represented several Kurdish political prisoners, were also arrested by government forces in Sardasht and Dehgolan.

Khabat Amiri has previously been arrested at least twice by Iranian authorities and was sentenced to one year in prison in a prior case. He was released after serving his sentence.

No information has been made available regarding the charges against the detainees or their current place of detention.
