Hengaw - Tuesday, 24 February 2026
Seyed Kazem Nazari, a Kurdish officer from Bojnord in North Khorasan Province who served at Police Station No. 12, has been sentenced to 13 months in prison after refusing to take part in the crackdown on citizens during the recent unrest.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Nazari is currently serving his sentence in Bojnord prison.
He received orders on the evening of Thursday, January 8, to participate in the suppression of protesters. In defiance of those orders, he reportedly stopped a police “van” in front of the station entrance in an apparent attempt to prevent the movement and logistical deployment of government forces.
Authorities arrested him the following day, January 9, after he returned to work. A court later sentenced him to 13 months’ imprisonment, which he is now serving.
