Sajjad Veysi, follower of the Yarsan faith, arrested in Kermanshah

Sajjad Veysi, a 30 year old Kurdish man from the Darreh Derij area of Kermanshah and a follower of the Yarsan faith, was arrested by Iranian authorities during recent protests and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Iranian authorities arrested him on Sunday, February 22, 2026, while he was traveling from Kermanshah toward Sarpol e Zahab. He was detained on the road as he and his wife were heading from the Darreh Derij neighborhood to her father’s home in Sarpol e Zahab.

Sources report that security forces used violence during the arrest. As a result of the severe shock and distress caused by the incident, his wife’s physical condition deteriorated and she was transferred to hospital.

His current whereabouts, legal status, and any charges against him remain unknown.
