Hengaw – Monday, May 25, 2026

Rouhollah Korki, a Lor political prisoner from Andimeshk currently held in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz, has been sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary. He is the brother of Amin Korki, who was arrested during the December 2017 protests and later died under suspicious circumstances.

Based on reports obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the death sentence against Rouhollah Korki was recently issued and formally communicated to him. Earlier, an indictment had been issued against him on a series of serious charges, including “disclosure and publication of classified documents,” “collaboration with the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK),” “espionage for Israel and exchange of military and security information,” “insulting sanctities and officials,” and “acting against national security.” His case was subsequently referred to judicial authorities in Ahvaz.

Rouhollah Korki, 48, was arrested on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, by plainclothes agents affiliated with the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on a street in Andimeshk. Security forces violently arrested him while he was leaving his home accompanied by his young daughter.

After enduring nearly two months of interrogation and solitary confinement in security detention facilities in Ahvaz, Korki was transferred to the general ward of Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz on October 2, 2025.

Rouhollah Korki is the brother of Amin Korki, one of the detainees arrested during the December 2017 protests. Amin Korki died in April 2018 under highly suspicious and unclear circumstances after being rearrested by security forces and transferred to the quarantine ward of a prison or detention center.
