Hengaw – Tuesday, June 16, 2026

Iranian authorities executed Afshin Davoudi, a Kurdish prisoner from Qorveh who had been sentenced to death on charges of premeditated murder. The execution was carried out in January 2026 but is being reported by Hengaw for the first time following months of communication disruptions.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Davoudi was executed at dawn on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in Qorveh Central Prison.

Davoudi had been arrested in 2023 on charges of murdering Mohammad Safari in what was described as an “honor-related” case. He was subsequently sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary after approximately one year of legal proceedings.

Iranian state media and judiciary-affiliated outlets have not announced the execution.

Due to internet disruptions and restrictions on the flow of information, news of Davoudi’s execution is being made public by Hengaw five months after it took place.
