Authorities execute Morteza Sadeqzadeh in Damghan on drug-related charges

Iranian authorities have executed Morteza Sadeqzadeh, a Kurdish prisoner from Saqez who had previously been sentenced to death on drug-related charges.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution was carried out in the early hours of Monday, June 1, 2026, at Damghan Central Prison in Semnan Province. Sadeqzadeh was 25 years old.

According to Hengaw’s sources, Sadeqzadeh was arrested by security forces in 2023 on charges related to drug offenses and was later sentenced to death by the Damghan Revolutionary Court.

The execution has not been announced by Iranian authorities or media outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
