Rabie Maleki sentenced to one year in prison amid continued pressure on Baha’is in Iran

Rabie Maleki, a Baha’i resident of Mashhad, has been sentenced to one year in prison by the Iranian Judiciary. He was previously arrested during a widespread wave of detentions targeting Baha’i residents in the city.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Maleki was recently sentenced to one year of discretionary imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad.
Security forces arrested Maleki during a mass crackdown on Baha’i residents in Mashhad in January 2026, after which he was transferred to Vakilabad Prison.
After spending several months in detention and undergoing interrogation, he was released on bail in early April 2026 pending the conclusion of judicial proceedings.
