Baha’i woman Farank Zabihi sentenced to prison and social restrictions

Farank Zabihi, a Baha’i woman residing in Qaem Shahr, Mazandaran Province, has been sentenced by the Iranian judiciary to two years and one day in prison, along with a two-year deprivation of social rights.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the Qaem Shahr Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Reza Majazi, convicted Zabihi Mahforoujaki of “propaganda against the state through promoting the Baha’i faith.” Her trial was held on August 3, 2026, and the sentence was issued on August 10.

Zabihi was arrested on April 7, 2026, when Iranian security forces raided her home. During the raid, they searched the residence and confiscated personal and electronic items belonging to her and members of her family.

She was released on bail from Tir Kola Prison in Sari after one day in detention.
