Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolqasem Salavati, sentenced political prisoner Amirhasan Akbari Monfared, 27, to death on the charge of "baghi" (armed rebellion). He is currently held at Tehran's Evin Prison.

Information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights shows that the death sentence was formally served on Akbari Monfared at Evin Prison on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

Hengaw has learned that the court convicted Akbari Monfared of "baghi through membership in the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK)" before sentencing him to death.

Akbari Monfared was arrested in Karaj during the winter of 2025 alongside his father, Mohammad Akbari Monfared, 57, his brother, Amirhossein Akbari Monfared, 33, and his sister, Zeinab Akbari Monfared, 30, by Intelligence Ministry forces.

Following the initial interrogation phase, the three other family members were released on bail pending further legal proceedings. The security-related case against them remains open.
