Iran executes three prisoners convicted on drug-related charges at Sari prison

Iranian authorities executed Ferdows Memari, a 47-year-old Gilak man from Rasht, and Shahin Sadr, 37, and Saeed Armand, 35, both from Sari, who had been convicted on drug-related charges, at Sari Central Prison in Mazandaran province. Sadr and Armand were maternal cousins.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the three men were executed at dawn on July 15, 2026, at Sari Central Prison.

Sources familiar with the case said Memari, the father of three children, was arrested about two years ago by law enforcement authorities on charges of transporting 17 kilograms of heroin. He was subsequently sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

Sadr and Armand were arrested about four years ago in a joint case on drug-related charges and were later sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

Iranian state media and judicial authorities had not publicly announced the executions.
